The short tail was designed for customers that prefer to not have a hose pipe obstructing a window, or laying on the floor. The short tail makes the warm exhaust air extremely directional. The flexible pipe that the nozzle is attached to allows the Short Tail to be pointed in any direction meaning that the warm air that is extracted from the cool air, is properly directed away from the user.
