Preserving Adventure, One Sustainable Product at a Time

If enjoying the outdoors is an important part of your life, sustainability and protecting it should be equally as important.

For many people, the peace of mind and meditation found on a hike cannot be replicated anywhere else. In today’s world, many products are made to be replaceable. Sustainable manufacturing is important if we hope to reduce our global footprint so that future generations are able to enjoy the outdoors.

The goal of sustainable manufacturing is to create lasting products without harmful effects to the environment. Sustainability in the outdoors can be as simple as using a reusable water bottle or packing snacks in reusable containers. When buying new gear, look for locally sourced or plastic free products. Choose products that are built to last so you can maximize your usage before needing to replace.

When out for a hike you are able to clear your mind and focus on what is around you. Getting away from the constant noise of a busy life is important for mental health. Studies have shown that getting outside and being in a green space can improve quality of life. Being outside increase your spatial awareness and allows you to notice more of your surroundings.

Hiking is a great time to quiet your mind from the stress of work and life and listen to the sounds around you. Time becomes obsolete on an adventure. Listen for bird and animal calls and see if you can find them before they notice you and flee. Playing games like stepping on only roots and rocks make you feel like a kid again and enjoy the simple pleasures of being outside. Every hike is different; even a familiar hike will feel different if you are out at a different time of the year or day.

No matter what your level of experience, it is important to get out, enjoy nature and fuel your sense of adventure. Sustainable manufacturing is a start to preserving the outdoors for future generations.
